older & wiser

SD 11

that guy {on the left} is the big 2-6 today!!

it’s crazy to think that Adam is already 26 [and i will soon be 24] when we both don’t feel much older than 20.
what is even crazier is how much Adam has been able to accomplish in just a short period of his life.
and i know he will continue to accomplish even bigger & better things!

i feel like a lot of times we tend look at our lives and where we are at and think,
“what have we done with our lives? what have i really accomplished?”
especially as we look at others around us who are similar ages and see all the things they have been able to achieve, it’s easy to feel like we haven’t used our time as wisely.

i know i do this almost every week more than i’d like to admit and it can be pretty disheartening.
and i know sometimes Adam needs a gentle reminder as well that he’s actually an
extremely successful & amazing guy!

so this year, in honor of his 26th year of being absolutely amazing, i wanted to share 26 of Adam’s greatest accomplishments!
[last year i shared 25 reasons why i love Adam]

i call it:
[i’m sure others are cool too. i just think he’s the cool-est!]

1. accomplished long distance runner and has ran in many races

2. Eagle scout

3. knows French {or used to know a lot more…}

4. held different leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

5. served a 2 year mission for the Church in Cleveland, Ohio

6. very talented piano & guitar player
[and played the trumpet!]

7. also really talented songwriter!

8. went skydiving

9. was a very successful salesman and in just 2 weeks in his summer job he continually had the highest sales in his office

10. talented artist

11. got married to the most awesome girl ever ;)

m&a (4)

12. self-taught computer genius & has learned how to work many complicated programs!
[seriously he can fix a ton of stuff & others frequently ask him for help]

13. was the head TA for a couple of years for the molecular biology labs

14. became a daddy

15. scored in the 98th percentile on his DAT and 99th percentile on his PAT (dental admissions tests)

16. Adam consistently has received high grades in all his classes even after getting married and having a baby and doing loads of junk for school that is really hard
{many semesters ended in 4.0!!}

17. was accepted into “invite only/you have to be really smart to take these” classes

18. received his Bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology

graduation 1

19. was the first choice for the Physiology graduate program and received early admittance

20. was a lab instructor, research assistant, and undergraduate mentor

21. was accepted into 3 dental schools and invited to even more interviews

22. published his thesis off of a really incredible experimental idea [cutting edge stuff!] and was told by one professor it was the best thesis he ever heard :)

23. Adam finished his Master’s in Physiology and Developmental Biology in less than a year

24.  in just a year of graduate school, Adam has gotten 3 {almost 4 & 5} papers published as well as 2 abstracts

25. presented his research and abstracts at a very prestigious biology conference

26. received numerous scholarships and grants for his work.

so obviously Adam is a pretty amazing guy and has many many achievements in just a short amount of time.
i’m really really proud of him for all that he has been able to accomplish.
some days when i think about how truly incredible my husband is in i’m brought to tears with overwhelming love, gratitude, and pride that he is mine forever.

Adam is seriously the best guy i know.
he is absolutely perfect for me in so many ways.
i’m so proud to be his wife and to be able to celebrate life’s successes together.

i’m excited for what the next years have in store for us and i know that no matter what, with Adam there along the way we will be okay.

my dear husband Adam,
i’m so happy you were born today and that you are a party of my life!
you have changed my life in many ways i never thought possible.
and you have brought me more happiness than i have ever felt before.

thank you for being my husband & best friend.
thank you for always being the calm one even when you don’t want to be.
thank you for being such a loving & caring father to our crazy boy
{who got his craziness from me i’m sure so i’m sorry about that!}.
and thank you for just being you!

love, the most awesome girl ever :)

I don't know how you could get down about where you are in life, and what you have accomplished. With that list, sounds like you have done more than most.

Aw fun! Happy Birthday to Adam!!! Sounds like he's a very accomplished guy!
I didn't realize you were that much younger than me!? I mean that as a compliment by the way. You are so mature in your writing and what not, you just seemed older I guess... Not that just under 3 yrs is THAT much younger... Never mind. haha.
