so much FUN.

on saturday night, Adam and i got to go to the FUN. concert in Salt Lake City.
guys, it was AMAZING!!
by far one of the best concerts i’ve been too.

now, i haven’t been to a concert in a while and have been rather cooped up basically since i’ve been pregnant.
so i could have just been really excited to get out of the house.
but i’m pretty sure it really was a freaking incredible concert.

i told Adam a little while ago that they were coming to town and i really really wanted to go.
and the more i picked up their new songs the more i knew i just had to be at that show.
Adam never really said anything until one day he sent me an email that had all the ticket confirmation info.
i may have squealed a little bit and start jumping up and down.
but that was nothing compared to actually getting the tickets in the mail and my level of excitement.
oh man, i was so glad we didn’t miss such a perfect show!

they interacted with the crowd perfectly without being too talkative and lame.
they played songs one.right.after.another without much break so you got to hear the most songs possible.
the songs were awesome and sounded great live.
ahhh!! i loved it!!
can i go back??

seriously. just thinking about it makes me want to get up and dance.

this may seem ultimate fan-girlish but when i first saw them on stage all of a sudden i was so overwhelmed with joy i started to get kind of teary eyed
it really wasn’t so much that i’m totally obsessed and a groupie or anything.
it was more like all of a sudden i was ME again.

{i’m going to try my best to explain.}

i have listened to Nate Ruess [the lead singer] when he was in The Format for a long time. so seeing him again brought back lots of memories and feelings.
dance parties with my Freshman roommates
going to lots of concerts and meeting The Format
being in a crammed car with all my best friends and singing at the top of our lungs
roadtripping from Illinois to Arizona with two of my best friends
burned cds & cat posters
Arizona pride
tons and tons and tons of inside jokes and hours of laughing
carefree
happiness
loving life

The Format 1The Format 2AZ 3AZ 4
AZ 2
[meeting The Format & Arizona road trips. we did yoga on Camelback Mountain cause we’re awesome]

for a few hours i wasn’t worried about fruit snacks and bedtimes and ABCs and diapers…
not that all that stuff isn’t wonderful and happy too! well maybe not diapers.
but for one night i wasn’t mom-Megan, i got to be just Megan.
and i got to remember how it felt to just live life & have fun without being so anxious and hard on myself all the time.

i don’t really feel like i can explain it well.
but to me it was just a really amazing experience.

although i really do love being a mom to my sweet baby toddler boy,
{and it brings me a different kind of sweeter & more fulfilling happiness}
it’s easy to forget yourself sometimes and get wrapped up in schedules, doctor’s appointments, and Elmo instead of doing something you love just because.
i’m glad i got to have a night where i could just rejuvenate and remember that i do like to have a little FUN sometimes
:)

[whew. didn’t know i’d have such deep thoughts about a concert did ya? ha!]

i’ll leave you with one of my favorite songs by FUN.

I'm glad you had such a good time! I didn't know that FUN had the same singer as The Format! (well, I hadn't listened to FUN) but I'm on a big Format kick right now. So thanks! I will definitely start my FUN kick now :)

In the picture of you doing yoga I can totally see your ribs through your shirt.. eat some cake, girl!

and finally... I am finally finishing up my three last classes to graduate! and I've decided online is much more boring than having you in half of my classes. I know it's weird because we didn't know each other that well, but I miss seeing your smiling face. It always made slow days much better.

This would be a fab concert to see! I wish we had more options of shows to go to over here in Japan! I loved going to shows when I lived in Utah :)

You deserved a night out like this one! My hubbie and I are totally rocking FUN at home right now. My 5 year old sings along... hilarious!

I love this post!!!! I know exactly what you mean by remembering your old self. i get the same feeling when I listen to the Mates of State. It instantly throws me back to my college time at FSU, my first trip to Arizona and my not so successful climb up Camelback (it was noon, I was from Florida, it was August.... not a good combination). LOVE YOU and always remember to have F.U.N. and Carry on ;)

Ah! I totally know what you mean! I can't think of a single Format concert I DIDN'T go to! My ex boyfriend was a friend of theirs and was in a band, so concerts were pretty much all I did when I was in high school.

I love this post for so many reasons. I love going to shows and haven't been to one in a while either.

But most importantly that you were able to find YOU. The you that isn't a Mom or a wife. The real you that makes you the perfect Mom and wife. I am SO happy that you saw the old side of you come back and I hope you can keep it. :)

YESSSS!!!!! Good for you!!! :) I'm so glad you got to go and unwind :) You totally deserve it. seriously. and I think it makes sense about connecting with old thoughts and feelings. You are the mom megan but you're still that same great awesome wonderful person!

I totally understand!! It's nice to have a chance to feel like yourself and realize that you're yourself too, along with being a mom. It's sometimes a realization! There's also something magical about having both of your hands...though I expect you may have that more often since Elijah's walking. ;)

I feel weird commenting. I could probably just shout out the window and you would get the message faster.

You were right. This song is awesome. I've listened to it three times already. Thank you for introducing us (FUN. and myself).

I went to the Fun. concert here in OKC over the summer with my sisters and felt that same way! It was amazing, and it felt so good to get away, even for a night!
