IMG_1931[Adam said i looked like a homeless person… sweet guy right?? :)]

before we left to California for Christmas and the wedding, we got to spend the weekend with my parents who were visiting.

my parents have been living in the Marshall Islands for 2 1/2 years and were finally able to find a new job in the states so they could move back to be with us.
this was only the 3rd time they had met Elijah which was really hard for me.

my parents moved away a couple of months after me and Adam got married.
a little while after that, we found out i was pregnant but now my mom was thousands of miles away.

it hasn’t been an easy time being away from my parents.
i mean, i knew that i wasn’t going to live next to them my whole life. but having them in a different country in the middle of the ocean not knowing when you’d be able to talk to them next or not knowing what they were doing or if they were safe or having a baby without your mom being able to come spend a few days with you and get to meet your baby….
it was really really hard.

it was hard for me.
it was hard for Adam to see me upset a lot.
it was hard for them not to be with their children.
and it was hard for our parent-child relationship because we didn’t get a lot of time to talk and when they were in town they were spread thin between other kids and family members.

so when they told us they would be in town for a few days before Christmas, it was a huge blessing.
then when they said, they would be quitting their job in the Marshall Islands and found a new job in Indiana, i knew it was a huge miracle.

i am so grateful i got to spend some time with my parents even if it was only 2 days.
i am grateful that i can call my mom whenever i want and she has the time to listen to me and comfort me.
i can’t even explain how amazing that is!!!
after not being able to do that for my whole life as a wife and mother, i now understand what a huge blessing it is to have your mother there for you.

cause no matter how much we grow up,
we’ll always need our moms.

and now i got her back!

SO happy that you were able to spend so much time with your family. And that you will continue to be able to. :)

P.S I don't think you look homeless at all!

It's true, which is why I have a hard time dealing with my mom not being in the picture. Great photos!

YAYYY so glad she is back! That would be really hard to have her so far away!!! Especially at such a crucial time.

I'm happy you got time to spend with your family. I live apart from my family and although we don't have children, it's something I've definitely thought about as I can only imagine how hard it will be.

Sometimes just being in a totally different time zone is hard enough for me at the moment.

Lovely blog :) x

Oh wow! I never realised that your parents weren't around. I am just a bit older than you and I couldn't imagine doing what I've done without my Mum 20 miles away, let alone getting married, having a child and all the stuff you have done! I have even more admiration for you, you're an inspiration! I'm so glad you get to spend more time with your family xx
