true.love

Photobucket

yesterday i posted this picture of Eli and me.
i honestly hesitated a lot about posting it,
when i first looked at it all i could focus on everything that was wrong with me in it.
i thought about apologizing for & bringing attention to all the things that i hated about myself.
[cue: low self-esteem sequence.]

but then one look at that sweet little boy's face in the corner just made me forget about my own self-worth issues.

Photobucket

that little boy in the corner doesn't care what i look like,
or how i dress,
or how my body is shaped,
or how my hair is cut,
or how big or small i am,
or how many zits i have on my face,
or any of that physical stuff that i constantly obsess over.

what that little boy cares about is that i'm his mommy
only me.

he cares that i take care of him,
and play {super baby} with him,
and read him Green Eggs and Ham,
and dance around the living room with him,
and make him chocolate milk,
and take him to see the blow-up Santa at Wal-Mart.

what he cares about is that i show him affection,
and protect him,
and be the person that he can trust.

that little boy loves me
he just loves me with my flaws & all.

what else matters when you have true.love like that?

::: i am so grateful for all the kind comments on that picture that pointed out his cute little face and focused on that love instead of how dirty my mirror is or how ugly my nose is. :) just proves that true.love trumps all imperfections & becomes what people gravitate towards the most.

k, first, can't find a single thing wrong with this picture. So I am not sure what you are seeing. Cause you look gorgeous!
second, Elijahs face. Total love! It makes me tear up a bit... haha! I love this post. It's so true. That's all he cares about. To him- you are the most beautiful woman in the world! And he may just be right.

If you don't like your nose....and I'm not saying that there's something wrong with it, but get it pierced! Lol I really felt like my nose is/was too big, but even having my new stud in my nose, I feel so much prettier. Weird right? Lol
Your big boy is so in love with you. That's so sweet to see this and know you are raising a gentleman :-)

This is the cutest pictures! I love the way you described the love of a child. It is so true, they don't care about all the little physical flaws we think we have, they just LOVE. And he is madly in love with his mommy. so CUTE!

that's the best part about little boys- they will always think their mamas are the most beautiful, no matter what. Love his look of adoration. you're a great mom; he sure loves you! AND pretty to boot! :)

I'm starting to believe that NO ONE likes their nose. Yours looks fine to me, but I never like my own. I think maybe we all feel this way!

Megan you are beautiful! I think most people have some insecurities about themselves but I love how you put it into perspective the right way! It doesn't matter what we look like, our kids love us anyway! Thank you for sharing.... it makes me want to wake up tomorrow, stay in my jammies all day and do things like sidewalk chalk and puzzles with my kids to make precious memories!

You are beautiful! I know your heart and you truly are! This little man loves you so much! Look at that face! I loves this post. It's what happens when we become moms. We become invincible in our kids eyes and that gives us confidence. Just remember that to him you are everything!
Xoxo

Love, I think you're the only one that saw ANY negativity in that photo... All anyone else saw was a beautiful mommy and her cutie pie son.
