to me……..

Valentine’s Day is many things.

    • it is a day to celebrate love
    • it is a day to celebrate my {favorite} place
    • it is a day to remember the most important question ever answered
    • and it is a day to ravish sugar

yes. ravish.

let me explain a tad.

Valentine’s Day is obviously the day of love and mushy things and super super cheese. DSC03886

[breakfast in bed: heart-shaped pancakes and “I Love You” spelled in powdered sugar]

and i love cheesy things. {so hurray, good day.}

it is also Arizona’s birthday. did you know? i learned it in fourth grade. i’ve never forgotten. and i celebrate it every year. DSC03902

{so it’s a good day.}

but also, sweet adam proposed to me on Valentine’s Day. so hello!! {it’s a good day.}DSC02932

and then to top it off. i’ve always enjoyed it for the candy. besides Halloween, it is one of those holidays that getting/giving/eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate and suckers and hardcore sugar goodness is never looked down upon. and it is even encouraged. so it is a {very  good day.}

plus you get those lovely themed Valentine’s cards that say, “Puppy Love” with pictures of dogs wanting to kiss you and stuff. always good.

here’s our list o’ fun activities to ring in

Valentine’s Day 2010.

  • adam came home from class will a lovely bouquet of flowers for me and i gave him giant milk chocolate lips. we both loved our gifts.DSC03894
  • went to dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory on Saturday night [which i had never been to and i won’t tell you how dramatic i {may} or may not have been]
  • went to THE CHOCOLATE a dessert cafe. oh my oh my. i absolutely loved everything about it! the house, the decor, the selection of sugary goodness, the atmosphere…. love love love. [well the cupcake was different…. but adam’s brownie was divine] i want to have my birthday party thereDSC03882  DSC03876
  • went to see Valentine’s Day the movie. i rate it a… B? maybe? we weren’t phased with the two main choices of love interests. Ashton will always been the dumb Kelso on That’s 70’s Show to me and Jennifer Garner always looks like she can beat anyone’s A if you mess with her.
  • breakfast in bed {as before mentioned}
  • i made a exquisite three course meal of shrimp, filet mignon and chocolate mousse. adam said about the mousse it was the best dessert he had ever tasted. score!             DSC03896 DSC03899
  • for his real present, [not that chocolate lips are horrible] i made adam a loving album filled with our pictures from when we dated, old love notes and memories of the things we did. i ended with what i wrote in my journal about us getting engaged to celebrate our one year anniversary of saying yes! he liked it. i get tears looking at it. it was a good choice.
  • we made cupcakes and homemade frosting to celebrate Arizona’s day of statehood and blew out a candle. adam thinks i’m weird, but he absolutely loves me so it’s okay. he’s a good sport.         DSC03903

our first Valentine’s was a success and we had a lot of fun. i love adam and he loves me. and we don’t need Valentine’s to prove it. but it is a lovely day to remind each other anyways. and as always, to reinforce our love for the Grand Canyon State!

papa adam

i can’t imagine having a baby without adam.

and i can’t imagine anyone else being more excited than he is everyday.

literally everyday. every morning. every second.

when he texts me he asks how i am feeling. then he asks how the baby is doing.

in the morning, he first squishes me to wake me up

{while i try to push him off}

i am the worst morning person ever

and then he rubs my stomach and talks to the baby. sometimes he’ll kiss it to say good morning.

{cheesy?}

yes. but i love it.

i am glad he so happy and so excited to be a father.

even if our baby will be annoyed of him [which adam admits full heartedly] because he will constantly squish and kiss him.

smother smother smother. but adam is excited.

[adam has also expressed his desire to dress our baby up in funny outfits and take pictures.] i don’t know if i am excited about this….

my little baby

i feel bad for him today.

morning sickness is come back. i woke up {more than once} in the night feeling awful and sick. going to toss my girl scout cookies. [was that too graphic?] i tried to just sleep it off but it was impossible.

so in the morning i woke up and took adam to school like normal. then went home to go back to sleep like normal. and then i just couldn’t get up. my stomach was awful. it hates me. now my poor child is not very happy with me.

i slept until 3. and have only eaten some cereal and a roll. which my stomach turned against instantly.

so i’ve slept more.

i’m sorry baby.

you are probably more hungry than usual.

good thing mommy has packed on lots of extra pounds that will fortify you for the time being.

bring it on Braxton

i’ve been having {awesome} braxton hicks contractions now that i’m in the last leg of my journey.

it actually has been going on for some time but i always just thought the baby was doing something weird. now i realize all the tightening and uncomfortable-ness of it is in fact contractions

sweet.

they don’t hurt. {yet} but they are darn uncomfortable. it tires me out. sometimes it feels like all my insides are being pinched together. lame.

but. i heard this is a good thing. in a way. my body is practicing. so i hope it’s getting some good practice time in so we can get this baby out smoothly and easily.

{no complications.}

that’s the goal.

so as long as you do me right, braxton, keep on practicing. i’ll encourage you along the way to make sure you don’t lose sight of the main goal here.

healthy baby boy. healthy baby boy.

not a lot of pain. not a lot of pain.

that’s my chant.

i like this

adam said we’ll see…

lg_crib_2037

{probably means no.}

but it’s cute yes?

my daily struggle

this morning i woke up really early from some psycho dream and realized i was starving. but i was pretty sure it was only 5 am.

i put it off and tried to go back to sleep.

{sleep trumps all in my book}

then i could feel the little boy kicking me lots. he was hungry too. and being the good mom i am i told him to wait cause mommy was too tired and went back to sleep. {this will not be what happens when he for reals comes, i assure you}

then i had to wake up to take adam to school. and i was still exhausted. i told adam i was starving. but i was too tired to even think about food.

to which he replied: “this is your daily struggle huh? to sleep or eat. everyday you have to choose.”

{it’s true.}

i still haven’t gotten breakfast.

i’m still trying to find my energy to pour that cereal.

decisions, decisions…

the baby is coming in April. i am praying he is late. how crazy would that be if i’m sitting in my final and my water breaks? but i feel like he’s going to come right on time. in the testing center or not. so i better get my act together.

which brings me to this decision.

{would it be too much to take spring classes right after?}

you see, the government is offering more money for students in the spring/summer. score. this is nice seeing as how we were contemplating using some of our own {possibly non-existent} money to pay for independent study classes.

400 dollars a pop? no thanks.

so why not use this opportunity to get a class or two out of the way with free money? plus a little extra when me and adam won’t be working. plus it will be an easier schedule to collaborate with adam and watching the baby. plus lowering my class load for fall/winter so i can be home more and adam can be in school full-time.

lots of pluses.

minuses. i just had a baby and will be gone two hours a day.

{manageable?}

you tell me. let’s weigh in. i need advice/personal testimonials.

bigger is better, and better is bigger, a little bit is never enough, NO NO NO!!

So if you remember this magical experience, you will be happy to know we were at it again. But we definitely improved our technique.

{Step One:} Tie strings across the living room from a hook, to the entertainment center, to the vent.

{Step Two:} Put duct tape on knots to prevent slippage

{Step Three:} Find every blanket in the house and drape over strings

{Step Four:}  Put all remaining quilts, sleeping bags, pillows and pads inside to help cushion the painfully hard church carpeting

{Step Five:} Watch Harry Potter while eating Macaroni and Cheese and large bowls of ice cream and popcorn.

Pretty much the best way to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.

I told Adam during Sacrament meeting a couple of weeks ago that after church I wanted to make pancakes and build a fort. So we did. We were first planning on eating pancakes inside the fort but then decided that was risky. It was still a success.

The fort took up half of our living room. IT WAS AWESOME! The one downside: awfully, painful, {basically} concrete carpeting. After 20 minutes my bum hurt. Not so easy sitting when you have 20 extra pounds weighing down on your buttocks.

But we loved it anyways!!

We are cool, huh?
