as you can see i have shopping on my mind lately since i have some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket. and basically i'm just really getting an itch for new wardrobe items. 

[do you ever just get so bored with your clothes even though you know you have stuff to wear? i find myself just getting so sick of all my stuff lately hence the window shopping :)]

so back to my latest shopping addictions. 

i have another website that i'm loving right now and that is Persunmall.

they have lots of cute, trendy clothes (that are long enough!) as well as lots of shoes & jewelry to choose from. i also love how many of their clothes are so bright and colorful or have little details that really draw your eye.

how to be a person of influence

Brooklyn is one of the cutest, nicest, coolest girls around! and i love what she has to say in her post today. i think this is such an important concept that i think gets forgotten a lot. i know i forget it a lot. i hope you enjoy Brooklyn's post and it helps you find your own strength and individual worth!

Hey you awesome people you! I am Brooklyn and I blog over at This Little Blonde. 

I have a quote hanging on the wall in my room that says, "You will never influence the world by trying to be like it." 

I absolutely love how that quote changes my thinking. We live in a world where we are encouraged to "blend in." We try and fit in, and we try to be one of the crowd.

The last thing this world needs is one more person that is keeping his or her mouth closed about the things they care about. The world doesn't need more celebrities, it needs people who consistently do good. The world needs more people who put others first. The world needs more people of influence. So I have come up with a list of 3 simple ways to become a person of influence.

1. Seek to be worth knowing rather than to be well-known

I remember hearing this quote a few weeks back and I honestly can't get it out of my head. Be that person that is so nice, and so silly and so helpful that people can't help but like you. Your character will say more than your reputation ever will. In the blogging world, use social media to connect with your readers. Don't be a blog lurker! Comment away! People love to know that you are reading and thinking about their blog. That makes you someone worth knowing, because you are someone who cares. 

2. Work WITHIN your own sphere of influence

When I dream, I dream big. I don't just want my mom to read my blog posts, I want the president of the fricken United States to read my blog post. But to be honest, that will probably never happen. I try to really focus on my audience. Who can I influence? My roommates, my family, my boyfriend, my readers, my coworkers, etc. So how can I personally change so that my influence on them is a positive one? You don't have to write a letter to the government that will change ObamaCare for the better, but you can leave a note for a roommate wishing them good luck on their test the next day. Maybe you can't get a big blogger to tweet you back, but you can tweet back a new friend that asked you a question. 

3. Find your strengths, and use them

I am NOT good at sports. But I am a GREAT cheerleader. I am not a good artist, but I'm a decent writer. You need to do what YOU are good at. Not what any other blogger is good at. I can look at every person in my life and find something to be envious of, but instead I try to focus on the things I am good at, things I like about myself. When you are comfortable in your own skin you are more worried about others than you are about yourself. Write about things you love. People will notice.

Trustworthy, faithful, sarcastic

2. What is the biggest lesson you've learned about living a happy life?
Don't worry about what anyone else thinks! It can take a lot of mental energy to try to please everyone

3. How did you start your blog & shop and why?
I started my blog on a whim. One night I just decided to do it. Of course now (almost 6 months later) I feel obligated to those that follow me. Oh, and I love it!

4. What inspires you?
My kids inspire me a lot. I always strive to be the best mom I can!

5. What would your totem-pole animal spirit be? 
I don't know what this means but my favorite animal is the dragonfly!

6. What are some of your favorite items in your blog posts and why? 
B = Broken, L = Life I chose these two because it's me. Unedited, open and real. I also choose G = Green because it's fun, fun, fun!

7. How do you define success?
I define success as being who you are while doing what you love. You can make a lot of money doing a lot of things but that doesn't make you successful.

8. What advice would you give to new shop owners/bloggers? What did you wish you knew when you first started? 
Make friends! It will keep you around when things get tough. The friendships are worth all the time and effort.

9. What is a talent you have that you wish you used more?
Writing. I'm working on it somewhat with this blog but I really want to finish the book I'm working on.

10. What are your goals for the future {long and short}? Do you have anything you want to change?
A short term goal is to create a fun atmosphere on the blog for all of the lovelies that follow along. As for long term, I'd like to finish my book and also run a thriving photography business.

okay, confession time for you, Lena!
i have been following Lena’s blog for a while.
i can’t remember how i found it… but i know i have been reading it for quite a while.

i think maybe i commented a couple of times but i always just kind of kept my distance.
i was completely intimidated by Lena because i thought i was for sure not cool enough to be in her circle.

fast forward a few months, and i feel like a total idiot & pansy!
guys, Lena is the most down to earth, incredible, inspirational woman i have ever met!
she is oh so kind, so supportive, and so very understanding.
working with her this month and being able to email with her has made me feel like we have just always been friends. no need to feel intimidated or nervous her.
we are just very good friends from the beginning.
and i love that about Lena! 

she can make everyone feel like a good friend from the moment you talk to her.
i feel so silly waiting for so long to really talk to her especially when she has been such a positive influence in my life. i feel truly blessed to get to know her and am so honored to have all of you get to know her a little more today as well!

1. How would your friends describe you?
Shy & Trustworthy

2. What is the biggest lesson you've learned about living a happy life?
That no matter what your problems are, if everyone threw their problems in a pile, you'd probably pick your own again!  I think we're all given exactly what we should be able to handle. As long as my family is healthy and happy, nothing else matters!

3. How did you start your blog & shop and why?
I started when my son was born and would post sporadically about his milestones and life as a new mommy... a little over a year ago, it became more of a hobby and a great way to meet new friends!

4. What inspires you?
My kids. Without a doubt the most interesting people I've ever met!

5. What would your totem-pole animal spirit be? 
Definitely a bear. I can relate to the "mama bear" analogy!  ;)

6. What are some of your favorite items in your shop or blog posts [with links] and why? 

I like posts about my kids...

I wish I knew more about social networking and linkups when I first started.  It's so amazing to put yourself out there and meet people.  

9. What is a talent you have that you wish you used more?
Photography!
I just started a new blog (Lena B Photography) and I'm hoping it'll force me to take & post more photos!

10. What are your goals for the future {long and short}? Do you have anything you want to change?
Basically, my goals are to keep going with what I'm doing... pay off some debt, buy a home of our own. Maybe make some extra money from my hobbies (photography, blogging, etc.).  Learn to sew!  Open an Etsy shop!

There's nothing I would change! I'm really enjoying my journey!

1. How would your friends describe you?
They would describe me as outgoing, funny and ridiculously organized. I love meeting new people and office supplies!

2. How long have you been married and what {honest} advice would you give to someone about to be married?
I am divorced so my honest advice is not to rush in. Make sure you know your partner and that you both want the same things from life, each other and your marriage. As long as you are on and stay on the same page, you should do fine.

3. How did you start your blog & shop and why?
I started my blog and shop because I wanted to share the things I love with the world. A friend of mine was the final push I needed. She opened her shop and gave me the courage to open mine. Thanks Jenelle!

4. What inspires you?
So many things inspire me. I have many boards on Pinterest but also have an idea notebook that I am constantly adding too. Sometimes it’s a sketch or photo and sometimes it’s something as simple as a fabric swatch. I also love vintage things and often find some of my best ideas that way.

5. What would your totem-pole animal spirit be? 
That’s tough but I think it would be a dog. I have a great passion for my fur babies and loyalty is one of my most important qualities.

6. What are some of your favorite items in your shop or blog posts [with links] and why?
I love my cabochon rings. I wear one almost every day. The little pop of color makes me happy.

Patience, patience, patience. I wish someone would have told me earlier on that this is a waiting game. I thought I‘ll just make my product, lit it and wham bam it flies out the door. There is so much more to it than that.

9. What is a talent you have that you wish you used more?
Writing. I love to write but I just can’t seem to find the time lately to put the pen to paper so to speak.

10. Do you squeeze the top of the toothpaste tube or the bottom? Which one does your fiancé do?
I squeeze from the bottom as everyone should! ;) My fiancé however just grabs the tube any old way and squeezes the crap out of. He also hangs toilet paper the wrong but I love him despite these faults!

11. What are your goals for the future {long and short}? Do you have anything you want to change?
Right now life is pretty good so I’m just going to keep plugging away. This year I would like to make it to a blog conference but we’ll have to see.
