Elijah-isms

Elijah is definitely still keeping us entertained as usual.
Here are some quality quotes from him as of late :)

He's definitely a child of the modern age.
Anywhere we are or whatever we do he will say, "Take my picture, Mom!"
His favorite subject to take a picture with is Anneli {of course}.
And recently we went to Target and he climbed up on of those balls out in front and he wouldn't get off until I took his picture.
I raised a monster.

I was introducing Elijah to the wonder of "Hook" the other night. He was confused why the kids were yelling while their dad was on the phone. Obviously we've had lots of talks about being quiet while mom is on the phone... No acting like children here!

After watching part of the Hulk one night, Elijah, while showing me pictures on the DVD case, said,
"Okay, Mom. That guy used that green thing to turn to the Hulk. Cause he eats his vegetables. And baby Hulks can't eat you but big Hulks can. But babies won't. So that's why you eat your fruits and vegetables so you can use that green thing to turn to the Hulk."

He makes up songs for Anneli to calm her down and while he's playing describing what he's doing.
I'm obsessed with his little high pitched voice and the way he holds out his notes.
I hope it never changes!

He LOVES talking to Anneli and trying to play with her. If she's awake, he's right by her side tickling her cheek trying to get her to smile. Even if she's not awake, he's right by her side. He also has taken it upon himself to be the only that can bounce her in the bouncer. He gets really mad when we take over. And Anneli loves him back just as much! It's so funny to see those two together.

Any time I mix something in the kitchen or get the blender out, Elijah thinks he needs to wear those noise canceling ear muffs. He will never give those up.

During lunch one day:
"Elijah, the pasta has to cook longer or else it will be too hard to eat."
"But remember? Miss Susan said, 'You can do hard things.' So I can eat it. Just try it."
"Well yeah, you can do hard things but you can't eat hard things."

One day Elijah told me that he needed to exercise and pulled out my yoga mat and dvd and started following the instructor on the TV. He is much better than I am.

Elijah spelling his name: "E-I-L-J-Q-H."
Close enough.

After asking Elijah questions about school he says, "I'm not talking anymore."
"Why not?"
"Cause that's enough talking."
Definitely a boy.

One day he said to me,
"Mom, you gonna have 10 babies and I'm gonna squish them all. Cause I'm a squisher."
And he would too.

That kid is constant entertainment!

Elijah-isms: new big brother edition

Elijah loves his baby sister Anneli.
{sometimes a little too much!}
He loves to give her kisses and hold her and hug her and get in her face...

Here's some of his most recent funny Elijah-isms now that he is a big brother.

He always goes up to Anneli and says, in a really high-pitched voice,
"Hi!! Good morning!!"

He also constantly wants to "Ugg-Mugga" [from Daniel Tiger] her and give her loud, neck-breaking kisses. He's loving but kind of aggressively loving...

Every now and then he'll remember snippets from the birth and say things like,
"Mom, why were you screaming?"
"Why did the baby come out of your legs?"
I'm hoping not too many traumatic experience surface.

He wants Baby Anneli to be included in everything.
Last night I was singing him his "Baby Elijah" song and there's a part that I sing that goes, "Mommy & Daddy love our Elijah" and he made me add in Baby Anneli too.
It didn't quite go with the tune but I love that he wanted to make sure she was included in our family.

He comes up to me multiple times a day and says,
"The baby is so cute! Mom, why is the baby so cute??"

He gets super close to her face all.the.time. {biggest frustration} and then gets excited and says, "Mom the baby's looking at me!! Why is she looking at me?"
My answer always is, "Because she can't look at anything else!"

Breastfeeding has become a norm around here and I was kind of nervous at first about how Elijah would react. But he's done great and it's funny to hear his observations. He will ask me why I'm feeding the baby with my shoulders. And I'm okay that he believes that for a while.

It's also become so normal that the other day he threw one of my breast pads at me and said,
"Here mom, your milk is leaking."
You're welcome, future daughter-in-law.

Elijah will ask if he can feed the baby or change her diaper and I'll tell him that he can't do that quite yet. He'll get kind of mad and say,
"But I'm the best brother ever!!"
:)

Overall, even though it's a bit stressful and crazy and frustrating at times, Elijah has done a wonderful job with the transition to big brother!
He loves his baby so much and wants nothing else than to be with her and help all the time.
I'm so grateful that he's been doing so well so far and is so loving.
[even though he's a bit too loving at times.]

So proud of my little boy!

Elijah-isms

This picture cracks.me.up.
Their face is the exact same!!
I can't even handle the perfectness of this shot.

Here are some fun Elijah-isms lately.

"Mom, are you mad and grumpy?
"Yes, because you won't listen."
"You need to go to bed then."

The  mornings are still really hard for me and I usually am dealing with an onslaught of Braxton Hicks contractions making it harder to get out of bed. When I tell Elijah to wait a few minutes so I can get up because I don't feel good, he rushes out of the room and comes back with a cup of water for me.
"Here, Mom. Drink some water and you feel better."
Sweetest kid ever!

"Good job, Mom!! I'm so proud of you! Yout cut [my nails] softly! Good job!!
((HUGS))
We can be friends now."

Last night he was trying to get game down from the closet to play and said,
"Oh man! It's too high up there! How am I going to get that down? I not big enough."
Then when I suggested he ask Adam to help he said,
"Hey Dad, do you think you are big enough to reach the games? Oh good job, Dad, you are big enough!!"

He's very encouraging as you can tell :)

He was really determined to take a sticker off my apple for me and said,
"I will do it because I a good sticker take off-er."

He also likes to go around and tell me,
"I a good helper mom. I'm big & strong!"

Elijah hates change!
I mean, I do too, but his is pretty extreme.
We recently moved out of our apartment to a rental home and every day since we moved E has told us how much he doesn't like our new house and wants to "Go back to the 'Bird Home' because it's so cozy!!" (It's called the Bird Home because the sign used to have a bird on it)
His hatred for change even goes as far as complaining that the Netflix app on my phone is no longer red but white & black now.
He seriously complains about it every day.

He also hates that I made him sleep with a new, lighter blanket so he doesn't sweat to death at night.
It's all too different for him.
He is a strong lover of routine & consistency!

He loves to use my stomach as a pillow, much to my discomfort, and looooves his back tickled.
all.day.every.day.
And asks me to tickle with my "claws" (nails).
{sound familiar, Mom?}

This kid sure is entertaining us every day.
I can't wait to hear all the things he has to say once baby sister comes around.

Elijah-isms

Some classic Elijah-isms for you today. :)

"Elijah, stop! You're doing that just to make me mad."
"Yes I am."
The truth comes out.

Elijah is very outspoke about how I dress sometimes.
He told me one day,
"Mom, remember I said I don't like that shirt. You need to go change. Go change it right now while I go to the bathroom."

He also likes to tell me how to wear my hair.
The other night he was avoiding bedtime and asked me to come in to fix his blanket for the 12th time. When I went in he said,
"Mom, you need to put your hair up like this!"
and showed me how I should put my hair in a ponytail.
I don't know how to feel about this new opinionated stage we've entered.

Elijah has been waking up at 6:00am or sooner.
And the first thing he says,
"Hi Mommy! What are we doing today??"
Nothing! Go back to sleep!!! is what my brain is screaming.
{not a morning person}

Elijah knows I hate snakes.
So naturally whenever there are pictures of snakes he calls me over to look at them.
And laughs when I squirm and get grossed out.
He's a sweet kid...

And a crowning moment in the saga of raising Elijah...
our friends were watching him one night and when we went to pick him up they said,
"So, Elijah pooped in the backyard."

My son, everybody!!

Elijah-isms

Some of my favorite pictures on my phone are ones where Elijah takes a million pictures of himself making different faces. It's like I'm catching him in his true, uninhibited form as opposed to his fake, cheesy smiles he flashes me with when I try to take pictures of him. He's just the best :)

It's been a while since I did an Elijah-isms post.
And made has he had some really awesome saying lately.
So to brighten everyone's day and for my own book of remembrance I wanted to share some gems :)

One day he told me,
"Mom, let's go to the Circle Store (Target), get an ice, and pick out something for the baby girl."
He knows my love language!

Elijah has been really into independence lately and doing everything himself.
{Except when he all of a sudden is "too little" aka lazy to do something I ask him to do.}
Part of his independence streak is making his own "lemonade juice" without absolutely ANY help from me (besides pouring the cold water). At first I was pretty against it cause I knew it was just going to be a big mess for me to clean up. But actually, I'm really proud of him for doing it! And he does it well.
So big!

He LOVES singing! And knows all the words to most songs on the radio, especially his favorites. The other day he was even legit harmonizing to One Direction. Hearing his little voice singing his favorite songs is one of my very favorite things about him.

Pretty much very day Elijah asks, "Mom, why is your belly SOOOO big???"
Thanks...

And then he will say,
"I'm going to cut the baby out. When is the baby going to bust through your stomach?"
That was a horrifying image.
So I tried to start the process of telling him how babies actually come out.
And when I said they come out of a hole he started laughing hysterically and thought I was just speaking crazy talk. Which really just made me feel better that we don't have to get into that conversation quite yet..

Even better. This conversation:
E: "I want the baby to come out right now."
Me: "So do I buddy."
E: "When will it come?"
Me: "After Elijah's birthday and daddy's birthday and mommy's birthday then the baby will come."
E: *smacks head* "Ugh!! That's too long!!"
Me: "You're telling me..."

Elijah, listening to the song "Brave" by Sara Barielles asked,
"Mom, what does brave mean?"
"It means you have courage and are strong to do scary things."
"Like when I cut my nails?? That's really scary. But I be a brave boy!"
But seriously cutting his nails is pretty much the most traumatic thing for him lately.

The other day Adam got a small cut and Elijah said,
"Okay. I'll call the firemen. They will help dad and make it all better."
Pro: The firehouse tour taught him all about what firemen do.
Con: Now he wants to call them for every small scrape and problem.

"Mom, I eat more candies (from Easter). But then my tummy hurts. So I'll eat one more and then we can cuddle to make me feel better."

And finally.
Today, Adam fell asleep on the couch and Elijah comes into my bedroom where I was working and whispers, "Mom, SHH! Daddy's sleeping." And if I didn't whisper back to him he would get really mad at me and say, "I said be quiet! Daddy is sleeping!" And then he would go in and check on Adam to make sure he was okay and be all concerned and sweet like.
And all I could think of was... "Where is this kind of compassion when I want to take a nap?!?!"
Anytime I am tired and start to fall asleep during the day, Elijah will climb on me and shake me and squish my face and yell,
"MOM! It's not time for sleeping!! The sun's out!"
I mean, where is the kindness and equality in this situation??
the.lamest.

But I guess I can't stay mad at this little face for long

maybe we got this

These blurry phone pictures are proof that I survived taking care of a baby girl and a crazy preschooler boy. WE ALL SURVIVED!

This week we had the chance to watch this sweet little girl while her mama was getting better in the hospital. I was a little nervous but even more excited to test my skills on caring for two children, and a little girl for that matter. And even more importantly, I was curious to see how Elijah would handle it all.

Besides wanting to watch her every second, including when I was trying to get her to sleep which was a bit frustrating....
["Elijah, she can't play right now! You're too loud!" "No, no, no! I will sleep by her in my bed!"]
He actually did really well!

He kept calling her "honey" and wanting her to come play with him. He didn't quite understand that she would get tired and want to cuddle instead of play. But he still did his best to entertain her.

If she cried, he would rub her back {a little too vigorously...} and say,
"Shh, shh, shh! It will be okay. I'm not scary."

And then he would be bossy and tell her not to touch his movies because she can break them. And that she has to be careful on the porch cause you can't throw balls over the side. You know, all the things he gets in trouble for. ;)

He was still crazy as usual, and refused to listen to me, and was snobby to Adam and I later on...
BUT! He was really sweet and kind to little P and really proved his worth as a future big brother.

[the verdict is still out on proving himself as a well-mannered, obedient, kind son though...]

It was one of those experiences where I felt a strong confirmation come to me saying everything really will be okay. And even though technically we did a small service for our good friend, I feel like it turned into more of a huge blessing & service to us at a time that I really needed it.

Elijah-isms

Some fun Elijah-isms for you today.

The other day after Adam got him dressed for church and combed his hair, he went to look in the mirror and said,
"Mom, mom, come here! Look! I look like Malfoy."
Yes. Malfoy from Harry Potter. And no, we didn't tell him to say that.
It was a proud mommy moment. Though I do wish he didn't look like Malfoy...

Another Harry Potter reference.
While watching Harry Potter tonight he said,
"Look! That's Harry Potter's castle (Hogwarts). It's in Utah. I want to go to Utah too to see Jersey & Phoenix (his cousins)."
Apparently all of Elijah's favorite things are in Utah: the BYU "Y" mountain, his cousins, and now Harry Potter.

Almost every night at dinner, I ask Adam if it tastes okay. Mainly because I'm self-conscious and always am afraid I ruined it. Elijah has caught on to this "tradition" and he will ask each night,
"Dad, it tastes okay? Mom, you taste okay? Now ask me." And then he wants me to ask him and he will say, "It's good!"

After getting dressed up for church on Sunday Elijah said to me,
"Oh, Mom, you look so fancy!!"
I guess it's a miracle when I'm not in my pajamas.

He's become the biggest sassy-pants lately!
When I ask him to do something, or have to ask him multiple times, he says,
"o-KAY, Mom!"
Excuse me??? You are not 15. Do not start that.

We have also had to have some very serious talks about him not body slamming mom in the mornings. Especially after a scary moment where my body cramped & seized up afterwards. He pretty much gets that there is a baby, more so when he sees the picture. But he doesn't quite understand that mom cannot move & play like before and he has to be so gentle.
Gentle is one word that doesn't quite describe Elijah...

Elijah has gotten reallllly attached & emotional with me lately.
Even when I'm mean & angry & moody all day to him all day, he's still obsessed with having me put him to sleep or cuddling or helping him to the simplest tasks.
{I really am so undeserving of this little boy's love. Truly.}
The other night [and also many other nights] he was so upset that Adam was putting him to bed instead of me he says,
"Mom, I'm so sad! I just love you!! I'm going to miss you!"
And then he walked away, pouting, hanging his head low as if he was on his way to the guillotine.
Kind of broke my heart... but also I laughed really hard at his dramatics.
[just like his mom ;)]

And that's my sweet little boy who puts a smile on my face every single day :)

Elijah-isms

Some funny Elijah-isms for you on this bright Thursday morning. :)

The other day Elijah told me he was going to give me golf lessons. It went something like this:
"I be the teacher, mom. Okay. You hit the ball like this. Oh, almost! Oh try again. So close! GOOD JOB, MOM!!!"
And then if I didn't actually hit it in the little hole, he picked it up for me and then would cheer as if I won the big prize. Such a great teacher! :)

Lately, everything is either his absolute favorite or absolutely disgusting.
"I love water! Water is my favorite drink."
"No, Mom, I don't like chicken. That's gross."
"I love treats!"
"I don't like those carrots. They make me choke."
"I love popsicle yogurt!"
"That yogurt is disgusting!"
It goes on and on...

My favorite one though is:
"I don't like those vegetables. Vegetables are gross. Only babies eat vegetables. And I a big boy!!"
Good reasoning...

After I had yelled and gotten mad at him allll day the other day, he still cuddled up to me before bed and said,
"Mom, I love being with you! We are two friends. We're family!!"
My heart melted & I felt like a bad mom all at once.

He said his very first prayer in Primary a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the proudest mommy moments I have had so far! He sat there so nicely waiting his turn, then he said most of the prayer by himself and said it so clearly and sweetly. A little girl in another class even said, "That was the cutest prayer!"
I know. It was my boy :)

And this is what Elijah likes to wear all day every day: pajamas and my Run Arizona headband.
But seriously he changes pajamas at least three times a day. And once he gets home from school he just wants to get into his pajama pants.
The kid knows where it's at!

Elijah-isms

It's been a while since I shared some of my favorite recent Elijah-isms.
And after these last couple of weeks being kind of doozies, I feel like I need a reminder that Elijah can be a pretty cool kid sometimes. :)

So some of my favorite Elijah-isms:

The other week I wasn't feeling very good and was lying on the floor. Elijah came over and put a pillow under my head, covered me with a blanket, and then gave me his special blankie to "help you feel better, mom." He even brought me water and then cuddled up next to me.
I mean, if that's not the sweetest thing ever I don't know what is.

I was brushing Eli's teeth and told him to open his mouth wide like a hippopotamus. He said, "No, Mom! Hippos don't eat toothpaste."
He's not wrong.

We got to go see Santa a couple of weeks ago and yes, I cried. And what did Elijah ask for?
"Toys, blue toys."
So that narrows it down.

He told me one day,
"Mom, I love candy and chocolate and candy canes and candy from church!"
#sugarholic

For his preschool Christmas party, the whole class sang Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas for the parents. I cried again.

Lately he keeps asking me if we can go see Santa's Workshop and gets really upset when I tell him it's too far away. Who knows what cartoon he learned that from... (since that's all he does is watch cartoons. :/) Tis the season!

He's really adamant about helping and watching me in the kitchen lately. It's fun and annoying at the same time honestly. Fun cause he can be really helpful and funny. But annoying cause he dumps salt or pepper into everything. Gross.

And lastly, soon Elijah is going to be in the big-kid primary at church!! They did a practice round last Sunday and he looked so little in there with all the other big kids.
Yes, I cried again.

Happy Friday!

Elijah-isms

some fun Elijah-isms this week :)

at dinner the other night:
"Mom, good dinner! Dad, let's clap for Mom. Yay Mom!!! Good job!"
glad to have such a happy little cheerleader on my team.
{the funny thing he hardly even ate dinner...}

he loves Katy Perry's song "Roar" and constantly asks to listen to the "fire" song in the car. and then he sings along with it. and frequently breaks out into that song around the house. it's the best.

his new manipulation tactic...
whenever he gets in trouble he says, "Mom, I just want you to be happy!"
and then he cries and cries until I smile at him.
I try to explain to him that it doesn't make mommy happy when he doesn't listen and I will smile once he does what I ask. but no. we can't move on until I smile and say I'm happy which basically negates the whole punishment to begin with.

his other sneaky tactic:
"Mom, I'm sick. I need chocolate milk to feel better."
I mean, how do you say no to such cleverness??

recently at night he will tell us, "Dad, I want to take my bath for bed, then watch Daniel Tiger, then go to bed. Let's do it." and it's like an hour and a half before bedtime. so that's cool.

also, on that note, he will say quite often "Mom, let's do it!!" and give me a thumbs up.
it's hilarious and awesome.

the other day he was taking forever to take a nap and eventually asked me to come in his room. he then broke down in uncontrollable sobs and said, "my mouth isn't working!!!!"
anything to get out of naptime.

and one of the sweetest moments of the last week:
Elijah sat in between Adam and I and said, "Let's all cuddle together!"
perfect ending to a crazy day.

love this kid!

Elijah-isms

the other night, Elijah requested i sing "Party in the USA" while i tickled his back before bed.
i don't know if i should be proud or concerned...

his friend Crue used to always have spiky hair and Elijah always talked about it.
whenever his hair isn't combed he will say, "look! just like Crue!"
the other day for school he requested that i make his hair "just like Crue's."
so i tried my best faux-hawk.
i think it's pretty cute! :)
{also, Crue moved away over the summer and we miss him lots over here!}

Elijah has been waking up at 6:30 every morning.
which means tomorrow i will again regret staying up and want to kill myself...

when i got home from the Relief Society , Elijah said he wanted to cuddle. so, being totally manipulated, i got him out of bed to cuddle a little on the couch (Adam had barely laid him down) and as we walked into the living room he said,
"Daaaaad!! I'm baaaaack!!"
{mockery at its finest}

yesterday my stomach growled and Elijah said,
"Mom, what's that noise?"
"Oh, it was just my tummy."
*giggling* "Moooomm!!" [then seriously] "You're peeing, Mom?"
um... no.

his new favorite show in The Magic School Bus.
i think i've done my job at parenting the next generation.

this little dialogue happened:
[warning: it's gross]
Elijah goes to the bathroom and then says,
"Mom, you don't eat brown poop. You can't eat brown poop or spiders or dragonflies or cactus or bugs or birds. You can't eat a lot of things."

then later he saw some bird poop on the stairs and after asking what it was he said,
"Oh, you can't eat bird poop. That's disgusting!!"

right you are buddy.

his friend Kinley was over to play and was wearing a dress and no pants. later when i had to change Elijah he told me he didn't want to wear his pants too, just like Kinley.
so he walked around for a while in his little underoos + cowboy boots.
[can you also see his little swim suit tan line? :)]

lately his favorite game is going in his closet with a blanket, some pillows, and a flashlight and pretending we are sleeping in a tent. he will tell me to close my eyes and go to sleep because "We are in a tent mom! It's so dark!"
it's fun, but really hot, game.

he's a pretty fun kid :)

the chocolate monster rears his ugly head

it feels like this has been Elijah's permanent face lately.
and it's almost {always} because of one of the following reasons:

1. he wants chocolate milk
2. he wants chocolate candy
3. he wants a chocolate sucker
4. he wants to chocolate milk
5. he didn't get to blow out a candle [like in this picture]
6. chocolate milk
7. chocolate

seriously.
chocolate is in his veins.

for his very first solo prayer he said,
"Dear Hevwy Fader, dank dee dis day. Dank dee..... chocolate cake. Amen."

i'm thinking we need a toddler chocolate intervention.

Elijah-isms

recently, if Elijah asks me something and the answer is no he'll say,
"but just try, Mom!"
no, Elijah, pretty sure even if i try i can't fit inside the play tent.

whenever it's my turn to put him to bed, he always asks to cuddle or to rock because he knows i'm a sucker for a cuddly baby. he knows how to tug at my heartstrings that one!
which essentially leads to taking an hour to get him to sleep ever.
and so now most of the time it's Adam's job to put him to bed ;)

anytime he sees someone new he says,
"who's that, Mom? is he going to bite me?"
note: he has never been bitten by a random stranger.

i hear, "Mom, what are you dooooooing?" 48 times a day.

if anything goes wrong or something break Elijah says,
"oh noooo!! what's going ooooon?!?!?"

asking him to brush his teeth gets this reaction:
"No! NEVVVVEEERRRR!!!!"
we like to be dramatic in this household.

his new favorite game to play with me is to have me race his cars while he chases them around with his plastic tiger. and then the tiger eats them and they get blown up in the volcano.
obviously he's a boy.

when Elijah asks to do things that he's still to young for, we try to explain to him that he can't by telling him he's just not big enough yet and too little. so now he turns that around on us and when i ask him to do something [like pick up his toys] he'll say,
"oh, Mom... i can't! i'm too little. you do it."
looks like we need to come up with some new explanations...

love that boy!!

Elijah-isms

Elijah at swim lessons. cutest little fish :)

since potty training Elijah, we've had lots of funny talks about our body parts.
and how he does NOT have a tail... and neither does mommy.
{i really want to tell the whole story. maybe?}

he has developed an obsession with shows that feature home videos of people hurting themselves. or just people hurting themselves in general. such as Ridiculousness, American's Funniest Home Videos, Wipeout, America Ninja Warrior... i feel like i should be concerned about it. well, actually i am concerned about it. is that a natural little boy thing? or is Elijah going to grow up to be a disturbed child?

we've worked reaalllllly hard at getting Eli to ask for things nicely. i feel like it's finally working because now he goes around saying, "Mom, can you please get chocolate milk for me please??"
it's the sweetest thing. and i almost give in to his ridiculous requests because of how sweet it is.
"Mom, can you please get that water gun for me?"
"Mom, can i please watch you cook with that hot vat of grease?"
[the last one is a stretch but not by much.]

he sings to evvvvverything!! almost every song that comes on the radio he tries to sing along with. Bruno Mars, Sara Bareilles, fun., Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, whoever sings that "Next To Me" song....
some of the songs are kind of inappropriate in my opinion but when i try to change it he yells,
"Mom!! turn it back to the (Hold On, Ooie-Ooie, Baby, Ahhh, whatever) song??"
and he always tells me to turn it up more :)

he has this little bear puppet (really a puppy) that is his best friend. he carries his Baby Bear all around the house just talking to it, tucking it in for naptime, reading books, anything.
"oh Baby Bear, you want chocolate? no Baby Bear that's mine. you go to time out. Baby Bear, you like chocolate? oh Baby Bear you shweepy? i rock you Baby Bear."
it's super cute and kind sad at the same time. his only friend... he needs some better social opportunities.

oh that Eli boy... he's just the best.

Elijah-isms

some things i'm loving about Elijah lately.

yesterday when i was making dinner, Elijah pulled up the chair to help me and said, "Mom, that's chicken. i LOVE chicken!! it has ice on it? (frozen chicken) oh, it's so beautiful, Mommy!"
where does he come up with these things?

tonight as i was getting Elijah ready for bed i asked him to put his hands up so i could take off his shirt and he started busting out "Party in the USA" and dancing around.
seriously?!?!
coolest kid i know.
{and proof that he is definitely my child}

he also loves listening to FUN. & The Format. which obviously makes my fangirl-mama-heart proud.

i bought him some sunglasses at the dollar store and they are his new favorite things.
he refuses to go outside without them.
he looks really cool and really nerdy at the same time and i love it.
best dollar ever spent.

i guess i cut myself shaving the other day and Elijah, who hates blood, saw it and ran up to me saying, "oh no, Mommy!!! what happened? you need bandaid? ohhhh noo...."
it was so sweet and tender to hear his concern.

the older Elijah gets the more fun he has become!
it's so fun to see the way his little mind works and the new things he comes up with.
he's my favorite :)

Elijah-isms

i missed this boy so so much this week!!!
you bet i had some hard nights not being able to kiss his sweet, chubby cheeks before bed.
oh this boy of mine...
love this funny kid!

i wanted to share with you some more Elijah-isms that always get me smiling

Elijah knows the whole Latter-day Prophets song and can even point to all 16 prophets' pictures and tell you their names. i'm really really proud of this accomplishment {since we worked hard on it:)}! seriously, he's so smart!

anytime something is too high, like the moon, he will say,
"oh Mom, i reach it? i can reach it if i fwy. i fwy up dere and touch it."
i'm a little nervous that this will eventually lead him into trying to fly off the roof or something....

he's actually starting singing a lot more which is just the best thing ever.
to hear him try to say all the words to his favorite primary songs or TV shows is just about the cutest thing you ever did hear. and he's good at it!
i love this more if i tried.

we had to go to the doctor and he kept telling me how excited he was about it.
"we see da doctor mom? like Doc Stuffins? check my ears & eyes? oh i so ess-ited!!"
the staff of course thought he was the cutest.
but i was just happy that it didn't end in a total meltdown like it usually does.
winning!

Elijah loooooooves any little kid and can see them coming from a mile away.
anytime we are around kids, whether it be in a store or at church, he becomes the BIGGEST ham ever trying to impress them. it's a little out of control. he shows off so bad.
it would be cuter if he wasn't so loud & obsessed about getting their attention.
it's the worst when he's around little girls... so it's already starting. ;)

that boy keeps us on our toes for sure!!

Elijah-isms

Easter pictures. he thought the pumpkin was needed for Easter cause you know, they both get candy i guess.

this cute little heartbreaker will be THREE on Sunday!
i can't believe it.
how did he get big so fast?
and how has it only been three years since he entered our lives when it feels like he's been with us forever?

little not-so-much-a-baby E is a CHAR.ACT.ER!!
serious.
this kid makes us laugh every day.
here are some of his most recent funny Elijah-isms that i think are pretty hilarious.

me: "Elijah, are you my best friend?"
E: "yeah!"
me: "am i your best friend?"
E: "no!"
me: "who's your best friend?"
E: "chocolate cake & candy"
of course.

E: "Mama, just go to sleep. shhhh...."
then proceeds to rub my hair and "sing" to me
sweetest moment of my mothering life.

me: "Elijah you're going to be 3!!"
E: "i have a birthday?"
me: "yeah on Sunday it's your birthday"
E: "oh, we'll see mom? we'll see?"
sure... we'll see if you have a birthday.

and since "we'll see" is Eli's new favorite phrase, here's another one:
E: "mom we go to da park?"
me: "no not now."
E: "oh, okay we'll see??"
me: "no we aren't going today."
E: "oh we'll see, we'll see."

lately when i ask Elijah to do something, he does this crazy grin, puts his finger in the air and says,
"of course, mother!!"

me: "Elijah are you a sweet boy?"
E: "NOOO!!"

yeah... that last one sums up a lot of our days.
but really Elijah is a very sweet boy.
he's my best friend, my little boyfriend, and the absolute love of my life even amidst all the screaming matches that are thrown down around here.
{him screaming that is.... and maybe me too especially into my pillow}

can't wait to see more of his little personality come out as he continues to grow.
lovin' that little boy of mine!
